Shibuya Kyoiku Gakuen Makuhari Senior High School was founded in 1983. It was built in the Makuhari new urban district of Chiba Prefecture as a private, co-educational school to prepare students who will play active roles in the 21st century. Three years later, in 1986, Makuhari Junior High school was established with the aim of creating a “unified junior and senior high school educational program focused on valuing each student in order to cultivate persons of individuality.”

April 1983 Shubuya Kyoiku Gakuen Makuhari Senior High School opened. Tetsuo Tamura was inaugurated as the first principal.
April 1986 Shubuya Kyoiku Gakuen Makuhari Junior High School opened.
March 1986 Science building is completed.
January 2004 Seminar building is completed.
March 2004 Shubuya Kyoiku Gakuen Makuhari Senior High School associated Junior High School changes its name to Shibuya kyoiku Gakuen Makuhari Junior and High School.
April 2006 Opening ceremony for artificial-turf sports ground
January 2010 Designated as UNESCO Associated School
April 2013 Construction of new library building(30th Memorial Tower) completed
April 2014 Designated as a Super Global High School(SGH) by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology
February 2017 Construction of the 4th ground completed
July 2018 Hosting of Water is Life, an international student conference
April 2022 Toshiaki Tamura was inaugurated as the second principal.
