Today, thanks to the drastic development of science and technology, we enjoy a rich life. At the same time, there are a number of closely linked problems to be solved on a global scale such as global warming, natural disasters, and new diseases. Thus, it is much more difficult to predict our future. In such a situation, each citizen is required to proactively think and act of their own accord.
We welcome all of you who are interested in our school and who will be productive members of society in the 21st century. We would like you to know about our school motto, “Jicho Jiko,” which means “Self-Awareness and Self-Thinking.” As our motto implies, we respect students who can find issues and solutions by themselves through deep thinking and being proactive. Additionally, we appreciate attitudes that actively engage in studying and life. If you lack such a mind and attitude, it is more difficult to solve the problems listed above. Furthermore, such a mindset and attitude is important to recognize who you are and what you are going to be given there has been an emergence of academic research regarding “self” or “identity” recently. Our school provides many opportunities for our students to think about themselves in many respects.
To achieve “Jicho Jiko,” the first thing that we ask you to do is to enjoy learning. Our school offers a well-organized curriculum and various school events, so that you can understand yourself more deeply. After your school life at Makuhari Junior and Senior High School, you can more confidently start your studies at universities based on what you experience in our school.
