2022 Entrance Ceremony

On April 7, we held our annual Entrance Ceremony for new students under the leadership of our new Principal, Mr. Toshiaki Tamura. This was the first time in three years parents were able to attend in-person in the Tamura Memorial Hall. Upon recognition of the 290 new junior high school students and 72 new high school students, both Mr. Tetsuo Tamura, Chancellor of Shibuya Kyoiku Gakuen, and Principal Tamura gave speeches.

Chancellor Tetsuo Tamura explained:
School is an exciting place to be. Our school has always placed great importance on this. It also requires mental youthfulness. In the past two years, we have had many restrictions on school activities due to the COVID pandemic. As we have gotten better at dealing with this infectious disease, I have decided to step down from my position as principal. I am pleased to announce that Mr. Toshiaki Tamura has been appointed as the new Principal. I will continue as the head of Shibuya Kyoiku Gakuen, and support the school on various occasions, such as giving lectures and writing the preface to the school newsletter, “Enju.”

In his speech, Principal Toshiaki Tamura, sent his congratulations to the students:
School is a place to grow together with friends. Please create diverse values and use them as nourishment for your growth. It would be a waste to stay within a particular value system. There is a tragic war going on on the planet today. We must never allow violence to take human lives. As the term “Shibumaku-style freedom” suggests, we respect freedom in our school. Freedom is a matter of respect for the dignity and rights of the individual. Human beings are not only individual beings, but they are also members of society. Please understand this duality and enjoy your school life.

The guest of honor also congratulated the students, saying that they should cherish activities outside of the classroom and make many friends.
Congratulations and welcome to ShibuMaku! We are very happy to have you as part of our community. If you need any assistance, please do not hesitate to let us know. All of us will do our best to support you.
