The inaugural Shibuya Makuhari Creative Writing Contest was held in 2018 and since then, more than 150 aspiring writers across all grade levels have submitted entries that have intrigued, inspired, and most of all impressed. Comprising both junior high school and senior high school divisions, this year’s contest utilized two picture prompts as the starting point for each story.
Amongst a very compelling selection of creative fiction pieces, the following six entries have been chosen as the winners of the 2021 Shibuya Makuhari Creative Writing Contest.
The prompts for the 2022 contest will be announced before this year’s summer break, with winners to be decided in time for the closing ceremony in December, so look forward to a whole new selection of exciting stories soon. Until then, enjoy the winning entries from the 2021 contest.
